Miller to Team with Patty Griffin and Jack Ingram for Grounded in Music
"I'm so excited to do a show with Jack Ingram, Scott Miller and the Grounded in Music kids. It is going to be a fun night of music and will give people a chance to find out all the great work being done by Grounded in Music"
~ Patty Griffin, Grounded in Music board member

Scott Teams With Writers - New Web Section to Debut in September
Earlier this month Scott did a writers workshop with author, Silas House at the 36th Annual Appalachian Writers Workshop in Hindman, KY. Silas co-authored “Something’s Rising” a non-fiction account about the devastating effect of mountain top removal mining. Authors love Scott for his song-writing, he was friends with the late Larry Brown and Stephen King lists “Drunk All Around This Town” as one of his TOP 10 drinking songs, so this workshop was a natural. We love authors, hell we love anyone who can actually read and write.

In that vein, we will be launching a page on this site for writers to list their readings, book releases, workshops, etc. It will be a way for people to keep up with American literature, buy it, and get out and support it. More soon.

"For Crying Out Loud " Hits Top 5 on Americana Chart
For Crying Out Loud, the new CD by Scott Miller is out, and is burning up the Americana charts. With 13 tracks and a new approach to song-building, the new record is a departure in some ways from anything Miller has done so far. Financed by the sale of initial song demos and an enhanced CD with video presold to the fan base, FCOL was truly an independent record and the debut on Scott's own label, F.A.Y. Recordings. FCOL is available now for online purchase and download, and orders are shipping daily for those wanting to buy the disc.

Debuting at #37 and moving up to #5 as of 5/9, FCOL is the #1 most added record on the Americana Radio Chart. Scott is in pretty good company in the top 5, sharing it with Bob Dylan, Steve Earle, Slaid Cleaves and the Flatlanders. Call and request your favorite song!

The reviews have been pouring in, and have been universally excellent. See them all in the press archive.

For Crying Out Loud track list, samples and ordering information are available on the music page.

Amtrak Crescent Tour Launched May 9 on National Train Day in New Orleans
Scott stepped on board the Amtrak Crescent and toured the east coast in support of For Crying Out Loud, kicking off the tour in New Orleans on May 9 - National Train Day and the 30th Anniversary of the Amtrak Crescent - and working his way up to NYC on 5/20, with 5 shows at stops along the way. So why travel by train? Miller says, "You really don't want me or my road manager/mascot, Big Al, driving. It's simply a matter of public safety..." For more information about the tour, read the press release. For all the tour dates, visit the tour page.

Also coming soon... I CAN'T DANCE CONTEST
In coming weeks, this website will be hosting the "I Can't Dance" contest, in honor of the great new song of that title on For Crying Out Loud - written originally by Tom T. Hall. You will be asked to submit your videos, which we will post for fan voting of which is the best. Get ready!

Patty Griffin, Scott Miller & John Oates: Wheeler Opera House, CO
The first of a three-concert series hosted by Aspenite and 80 million record-seller, John Oates, and showcased at the historic Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, the "Stories Behind the Songs" kicked off 2/15 with Scott Miller, Patty Griffin and John Oates trading songs and insight before a very appreciative crowd of songwriting fans.

Scott played "Daddy Raised a Boy", ("Your daddy raised a man", Patty Griffin said, "you're just a little skinny"... ), Angels Dwell (with help from Patty and John), Sin in Indiana, Red Ball Express (with John on lead guitar and Patty playing percussion on a cajón), then a group finale of the classic, People Get Ready.

John and Patty played some of their songs, with Patty previewing her upcoming gospel record, and John playing some of his recent work, as well as the Hall and Oates classic, "She's Gone" - which got Scott and Patty (and the rest of the crowd) pretty fired up!

Great show in an amazing venue with great songwriters and friends! For a complete transcript, see Nichole Wagner's write-up about the show here, or view Nichole's interview with Scott Miller here.
